Woodstock – It Was 50 Years Ago Today

It was 50 years ago today in the small upstate  New York town of Woodstock where more than 400,000 young people came for three days of music, peace and love. This week we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and all it came to represent: love and peace triumphing over hatred and war, everyone’s sharing the earth in peace. It was the age of  Aquarius.

Sadly the spirit of Woodstock didn’t last. We live in a world where love and peace are in short supply, but that shouldn’t stop us from trying to be the best we can.

  1. It was a flicker in time when all the positive things about a youth culture movement merged into an idealist manifestation of that movement. At least that’s what we are told. That’s the hype. My high school theatre teacher was there. He said it was frankly awful. Horribly muddy. He said Monterrey was so much better.

    1. Yeah, I’ve heard the same thing. It was the idealism that was important. My wife and her girlfriend attempted to go and got caught up in all the traffic. They never made it and went home. Me, I was halfway around the world where there was no love or peace, but plenty of mud.

  2. Great post 🙂 Tell me something, do you find it hard to believe that 50 years have passed since Woodstock or do you think the complete opposite? 🙂 Anyway, keep up the great work as always 🙂
