Burt Lancaster stars in the brutally powerful prison drama, Brute Force, showing on TCM tonight at 10:15PM (Eastern time). The Jules Dassin directed film is a strong indictment of the prison system for its corruptness and failures to rehabilitate.

I remember when I was a young boy I traveled with my teamsters uncle who was trailering the makeup van for some of the cast of The Swimmer”, a Lancaster film. I got to meet him. Don’t think the movie did so well. It was a fun experience for a boy my age of about 10.

I remember the film, but I have not seen it. Lancaster was part of that film star
generation that were bigger than life.
